If you suffer from cold sores, you already know that the lingering sore can last for up to a week. This tip is not for the faint hearted, but you can speed up the drying of a cold sore using salt. Simply grind some table salt between two spoons. Dampen your finger and dip it into the salt powder. Press your powdered finger onto the cold sore and hold for 30 seconds. It will sting, but if you repeat this treatment 2 to 3 times a day the cold sore will dry up and disappear after just a couple of days.
